IVF or In Vitro Fertilization is the process through
which many women, who lost their hope to be amother,
can get the ray of hope again in their life. Thereare other fertility treatments which can help you there. But, if
all those get failed, and you are losing your hope, IVF is still there to bring
good news to you. There are several steps one has to go through when she is
under the surveillance of IVF treatment.
Five Basic Steps of IVF Treatment
Step One
Here, the fertility medications are given to stimulate
egg production. For the process to be successful, multiple eggs are required as
many eggs may not develop and fertilize. Then a transvaginal ultrasound is
performed to examine the ovaries. Blood samples are also collected to check out
the hormone levels.
Step Two
This step includes eggs separation. N ultrasound
imaging is used with a surgical process for this purpose. A hollow needle is
inserted through the pelvic cavity to remove the eggs. You may get cramps but
will recover within two-three days. You will be given medication to reduce any
discomfort and remove it.
Step Three
Sperm is also collected that will be prepared to be
combined with the eggs.
Step 4
This process is known as insemination. Here, the eggs
and sperms are mixed and stored in a laboratory dish for fertilization. There
are certain cases, where the possibility of fertilization is quite lower. In
that case, intracytoplasmic sperm injection or ICSI is used. In this process, a
single sperm is directly injected into the egg for perfect fertilization. Then
the eggs are kept under observation to check if fertilization and cell division
is taking place. Once the eggs are fertilized,
those are called embryo.
Step 5
Then the eggs are transferred to woman’s uterus
following three to five days of egg retrieval and fertilization.
